Former Ghana Captain Stephen Appiah is buoyant that the Black Stars can emerge winners of the upcoming TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D I’voire.
Ghana have been drawn in Group B alongside Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique in the tournament which will feature 24 countries.
Despite an Afcon trophy drought that spans over four decades and a shaky qualification campaign the former captain fancies Ghana’s chances to emerge as the best on the continent.
“I am very Confident that Ghana can win the Afcon. Today football is played everywhere and that’s why you’ll find it difficult to even play Comoros. We should believe in ourselves and in the team. They should go out there and represent Ghana the best they can.” He stated on the sidelines of the unveiling of the TotalEnergies Afcon trophy at the TotalEnergies Headquarters in Accra, Ghana.
The Afcon kicks off on the 13th of January 2024 and will end on the 11th of February 2024.
