Chief Executive of Burniton Music Group, Livingstone Etse Satekla known in public life as Stonebwoy has dragged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Okaikwei Central Constituency, Sadiq Abudulai Abu to an Accra High Court.
The founder of The LIVINGSTONE Foundation in his writ filed on May 31, 2024, demands that Baba Sadiq deletes what he describes as an offensive tweet and issue an apology to him.
Stonebwoy is also asking the court to award him damages of GHS 3 million for the harm which the social media post of Baba Sadiq have caused to his reputation.
The filing of the lawsuit by Stonebwoy was anticipated by social media commentators, who had earlier raised concerns about the allegations of female abuse made by Baba Sadiq in his tweets.
According to the suit, the fact that the tweets suggested that Stonebwoy was violent towards women raised red flags among the artist’s supporters, who believed that the remarks warranted a legal response.
Meanwhile the Ghana Police Service has extended an invitation to Stonebwoy, for allegedly making threats of harm against Baba Sadiq Abu.
The invitation follows a report filed by Baba Sadiq at the Mile 7 Police Station, on June 7, 2024.
Baba Sadiq claims that he received a call from Stonebwoy prior to the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, during which call, the artiste expressed reservations about Baba Sadiq’s support for another artiste in the Artiste of the Year category.
“When he called, he questioned me and sought to find out if I was content with the happenings on social media. Before I could fully articulate my response, he warned me, ‘if we meet physically, I should maintain the same energy,’ which, given his tone and reputation, I interpreted as a threat of physical harm,” Baba Sadiq wrote in his statement to the police.
