Stop Saying Highlife is Dead – Bisa Kdei tells Media
Award winning Highlife Musician Bisa Kdei has expressed his worry over a growing perception that Highlife music is dead in Ghana.
Bisa who was addressing the media at the official launch of his third studio album “Highlife Konnect” in Accra on Saturday April 21 2018, said Highlife music is the only genre of music that truly projects our culture and traditions as Ghanaians so there is no way Highlife will die.
“I want to tell my media friends here that, they should stop saying Highlife is dying or Highlife is dead. I keep hearing this in the media all the time but Highlife is not dead. If we keep saying Highlife is dead, certain people would believe it but it is not true”.
The “Mansa” hit maker stated that Highlife originated from Ghana and it will never die, adding that at the time he came to the limelight, Hiplife and Dancehall was very strong but he still made it with Highlife so Highlife will never die.
He insisted that he would do everything he can to protect Highlife and to continue the legacy the likes of CK Mann, Paapa Yankson, Amakye Dede, Pat Thomas, Nana Kwame Ampadu, Daddy Lumba, Oheneba Kissi, Paa Bobo and others have left behind and called on all Ghanians to help preserve our culture especially Highlife.
The launch, which took place at Level 8 Lounge Airport, saw top personalities and musicians including Rex Omar, Kumi Guitar, Yaa-Yaa and a host of others.
Bisa Kdei revealed that he composed all the songs on the 15 tracks album and also produced some of the songs. Bisa Kdei said his target with this album is to reconnect with the world since Ghanaians are the original owners of High life music.

The High-life musician also hinted that he derives inspiration from the joy he impacts on his fans with his music which urges him to invest quality time making sure that every single sweat and sleepless night he invests in his works come with smiles and satisfaction to his audience which is his main priority.
The album features top musicians across the African continent. Songs on the album include Asew, Featuring Flammes from Togo, BieWueni featuring Kumi Guitar and Akwaboah, pocket featuring Sarkodie, Aban featuring Yaa Yaa etc.
