Strange Deaths Hit Kumasi Academy, 3 Dead, 10 Hospitalized

THREE STUDENTS of the Kumasi Academy Senior High School ((KUMACA) have been confirmed dead and 10 others are currently on admission at the hospital in the last week alone, THE PUBLISHER has gathered.

The shocking deaths, which occurred within a span of 48 hours, followed series of complains of high temperature.

The series of unending death reports after brief complains is said to have caused fear and panic among the students, school authorities and the general public.

Speaking to THE PUBLISHER, the Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Cassandra Twum Ampofo, said the campus deaths are horrifying but added that things are under control.

She said life in the school was normal until a first-year student complained of high temperature and was rushed to the school’s clinic around 7:30 pm on Wednesday last week.

According to her, the student was later rushed to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Hospital but sadly he could not make it.

She said the first death occurred around 4am on Thursday and “on that same day around 8pm another first-year student also reported of high temperature and he was rushed to the KNUST Hospital and he also died”.

The Ashanti Regional PRO of the GES disclosed that on Friday another student, who was also said to be sick and went to the house for treatment was also reported dead.

Ms. Ampofo said so far ten other students from the school are reported sick and are receiving treatment at the hospital, adding that the school authorities and the GES are very concerned and doing all it would take to reverse the sad trend.

Earlier this year, reports say about five students of the school also died under similar mysterious circumstances.
