A mobile preacher in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi, has been arrested for attacking the noise control unit team after his equipment were seized.
According to the noise control team, the equipment of Evangelist Abraham Arthur were seized for violating a KMA bylaw that prohibits preaching activities after 10am.
Abraham Arthur struggled with the taskforce to prevent the seizure and ended up smashing the windscreen of their vehicle with one of his sound speakers.
The Head of Noise Control Unit, Mr. Kombal Edmund told Joy News’ Erastus Asare Donkor that he sent the team to canvas the streets to ensure there was less noise on the streets and preachers especially, were adhering to the bylaw.
“I would rather prefer to die than have my gadgets seized”, Evangelist Arthur told the task force according to Mr. Kombal.
Mr. Kombal also told the reporter that, Evangelist Arthur had no permit from the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
He also told Erastus that, all preachers are supposed to quit their morning activities by 10:00 am and violators will have to either face court action initiated by the task force or pay a penalty to have their seized equipment released to them.
Meanwhile, Evangelist Arthur is in police custody and being prepared for court.
