Students Boycott Class over Strange Rituals

ACADEMIC WORK could not take place at Akomadan Primary and Junior High School (JHS) on Thursday due to superstitious beliefs.

Some unknown people were said to have buried a live pig and goat in the school compound, and for fear of the implications, the students reportedly boycotted classes.

Mr. Kwaku Boateng, the PTA Chairman of the school, said on radio that both teachers and students were nowhere to be found on Thursday.

He said the security men at the school had confirmed that they spotted five people burying a live goat and pig in the school compound at night, and thus decided to alert the community.

The development, he said, was a great source of worry to both the PTA and other stakeholders.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the traditional authority in the area had intervened by performing counter rituals in the compound, and had asked the students to report to school.

The chiefs, according to same reports, had have ordered for the buried items to be exhumed without delay.
