Oppon Memorial Senior High which is located in Kokofu in the Ashanti Region on the 18th of July , 2018 carried out a peaceful demonstration due to the early transfer of their respective headmaster Mr. Addai Opoku.
The headmaster who is said to have taken the place of the Mr. Joseph Baffoe who went on retirement about 6 months now received a transfer letter from GES to continue with his service at Asanteman Senior high school of which he was replaced by their( Asanteman) Assistant headmaster.
This sudden transfer seemed to cause a lot of disappointments in the students of the institution.
They saw their headmaster’s transfer to be too early and inappropriate, hence the peaceful demonstration.
In an interview with the Students Representative Council president, Panford Afriyie Doris, she explained that their headmaster had a lot of unfinished projects to be done and so his sudden transfer will result to the halt of all these projects.
The boy’s prefect of the school,
Amankrah Hosea also expressed his grievances on behalf of the students and also urged the necessary authorities to do the needful because he thinks there’s more to the sudden transfer.
Some students also said, if Ghana Educational Service is transferring their headmaster, then his bursar should go with him. As to why they said that still remains a mystery.
