Two mothers who have been abandoned by the fathers of their respective children have received financial support from the De-Graft Johnson Foundation in Accra.
They are Aisha Abdullah and Philipa Brimah, mother of eleven year old Emeka Etuke.
Aisha received a GH₵3,000 startup capital for any business of her choice.
In March this year, the Foundation again handed over keys to a fully furnished apartment at Kasoa to Aisha.
Aside, this, the Foundation has spent over GH₵30,000 on the late Abiba Abdullaih Aisha’s daughter who was battling a strange disease.
Abiba who on August 17, 2020 succumbed to the illness has since been buried in accordance with Islamic tradition.
In the case of Philipa, she received GH₵2,000 from the De-Graft Johnson Foundation for the upkeep of Eneka currently recuperating from a fully sponsored surgery by the Foundation.
According to sources, the Foundation has so far spent over GH₵15,000 on the surgery and other general medical expenses.
Emeka undertook a surgery at Korle-Bu Hospital to correct Bladder Exstrophy, (a congenital abnormality that occurs when the skin at the bottom part of the tummy does not form properly) a condition that made urination difficult for the eleven year old boy.
Donations
Presenting the money to the beneficiary mothers at separate events in Accra, the Chief Executive of the Foundation, Mr. Richmond De-Graft Johnson urged the parents to use the money judiciously.
He expressed gratitude to the many viewers of The De-Graft Johnson Show on Tumpaani TV who continuously donate to keep the vision and mission of the Foundation on course.
Mr. De-Graft Johnson however, appealed to corporate bodies, NGO’s, churches among others to support the activities of the Foundation in order to be able to meet the many requests of its viewers.
Aisha
Receiving the donation, Aisha who said she was shocked at the gesture said she was not expecting any money from the Foundation in respect of how much it had already invested in herself and her late daughter.
She promised to put the money to good use.
For her part, Philipa said she doesn’t remember the last time she received such an amount.
She said she doubted the capability of the Foundation to put any smile on her face adding that “but I have been proven wrong… “.
Plot of land
Earlier, Mr. De-Graft Johnson stated that the Foundation is set to purchase a plot of land for Philipa at any location of her choice.
This he said would enable her move from the kiosk she is currently living at Pokuase, a suburb of Accra.
Meanwhile, the De-Graft Johnson Foundation has made an initial GH₵20,000 deposit towards a hole in heart surgery for 12 year-old Jewel Owusu at Korle-Bu.
The figure leaves the Foundation with a total of GH¢14,200 balance to settle.
