THE LIVES of a group of policemen were exposed to danger as they were pelted with stones after they had arrested some suspected drug peddlers and users.
The brave policemen, stationed at the Tafo Pankrono Divisional Taskforce, had nabbed six suspects at Krofrom Columbia, a known dangerous criminals den in Kumasi.
Those arrested were Yaw Marfo, 24, Tiler, Obed Boateng, 18, Trader, Saliu Kassim, 51, Driver, Monigbe Tabka, 32, Labourer and Jacqueline Akosa Baafi, 29, unemployed
The July 6, 2022 grand police operation, which was conducted around 2pm, also led to the arrest of one Opoku Jantuah Bazier Larima, 25, a tricycle rider.
After the important arrest, the police subjected all the suspects to a search and dried leaves, which is suspected to be cannabis, an illegal substance, was found on them.
But as the police were preparing to haul the suspects to the station for questioning, a group of young men in the area, started to pelt the security agents with stones.
The bizarre action of the young men did not scare or deter the policemen as they managed the whisk the suspects and the items found on them to the police station.
“Suspects were arrested together with some quantities of dried leaves, suspected to be cannabis”, a police report spotted by THE NEW PUBLISHER disclosed.
“And after the arrest, their friends mobilized the youth of the area led by one Diego, Kyei and Apau aka ‘Rebel’, who attacked the police.
“They pelted stones at police and caused damage to the back windscreen of KIA Pregio car No. AS 9878-18, a civilian car used by police for the exercise”.
“All the suspects together with the exhibits were brought to the station for investigation”, the police report said. It is not clear whether those who pelted police with stones have been arrested or not.
