The Executive Director of the Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG) Dr. Emmanuel Akwetey has described as comical the verbal attack on him by host of Good Evening Ghana, Paul Adom Otchere.
According to Dr. Akwetey, it was embarrassing to watch a learned journalist descend to the gutters and abuse him on live TV.
Following the decision by the President to evict traders and squatters around his private residence at Nima, Dr. Akwetey urged Akufo-Addo to reconsider his position and move to the Flagstaff House – which has been renamed Jubilee House.
Dr. Akwetey also described as paltry the compensation that was being given to the traders. Moments after the comments, Adom Otchere on his show slammed Dr. Akwetey and described him as a hypocrite.
However, Dr. Akwetey speaking on Morning Starr Thursday stated that he wasn’t surprised by Adom Otchere’s attack on him describing the seasoned journalist as a sycophant.
“That was comical, I mean whoever knows me and know the work I have been doing will know that I don’t play those games.
“It is a shame that learned people will descend so low…I think it was quite embarrassing to see that comic on TV. The issues I raised was to speak for the poor and the president responded, the minister responded and they made us understand clearly and the president came out stronger and clear.
“I stand for what I thought was right, to speak for the poor,” Dr, Akwetey told host Francis Abban.
