Take Advantage of Our Business-Friendly Economy
…Bawumia Charges Nigerian Businesses
Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has urged Nigerian businesses to take advantage of the conducive economic atmosphere in Ghana and invest in the country.
He said government was embarking on an aggressive investment drive, aimed at supporting the private sector to be the country’s engine of growth, and urged Nigeria businesses to take advantage the situation to invest in Ghana.
Dr. Bawumia, who was speaking at the opening ceremony of the maiden Ghana-Nigeria Investment Conference in Accra yesterday, called for the removal of all forms of trade barriers between the two countries to enhance existing relationship between them.
“We have an unshaken belief and faith in our private sector and have, since taking office in January 2017, initiated many policies and projects aimed at improving the business environment and offering direct support for businesses to thrive,” he stated.
The vice president reiterated government’s resolve to move Ghana beyond aid by making her the ‘most business-friendly’ economy in Africa.
“…we have been working at this very strongly over the last year and this is why you have seen major macroeconomic stability in Ghana. We have reduced the fiscal deficit from the 9.3 percent that we inherited to 6 percent. Inflation has come down from over 15 percent to single digit with interest and exchange rate on the decline and stable respectively.” he said.
Dr. Bawumia disclosed that apart from economic growth increasing from 3.6 percent to 8.5 percent, government is also embarking on a major digitization agenda for the economy.
