Talensi Development Committee Tasked to Sustain Peace and Development
Tong-Rana Kubilsong Nalebegtang, the Paramount Chief of the Talensi Traditional Area in the Upper East Region has tasked a 17- Member Development committee to work hard to maintain the peace currently enjoyed in to promote sustained development.
He said progressive and sustained development could only be realised only if there was peace and love among the people involved in the development agenda.
The Paramount Chief made the call when Talensi Traditional Council inaugurated a 17-Member Development Committee dubbed “Talen-Teng Development Committee” to ensure the total development of the area.
The committee members comprised Divisional Chiefs, “Tindanas” as well as intellectuals drawn from the area to work together to enhance its development.
The Committee Members took oaths of office and secrecy which was conducted by the Paramount Chief.
He indicated that peaceful environment attracted investors and said it would boost development in the area.
The Paramount Chief charged members of the committee to collaborate with other development partners and agencies such as; the District Assembly, Non- Governmental Organisations (NGOs) as well as the private sector to generate initiatives and plans to develop the area.
“The particular areas of interests should include; Agriculture, Culture, Cottage Industries, Tourism, Education, Youth Empowerment, Health, Roads among others.” He said.
The Paramount Chief who is also a former Member of Parliament for the area noted that the area was endowed with natural resources and tourist attractions and mentioned the Tenzug Hills and shrine, the various types of rocks, the architecture of the area and the Daa festival among others.
The Committee Members promised to collaborate effectively with other development partners and stakeholders to develop the area and thanked the Paramount chief for the trust reposed in them.
