The head of Tanko Foundation, Mr. Gabriel Kwabla Kwamigah has supported the completion of a school building project in the Atiteti Township located in the Volta region.
The school project which had received an earlier support from the Ketu North Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. James Klutse Avedzi was stalled due further luck of funds.
Popularly referred to as Mr. Tanko upon hearing the current state extended more support to help in the completion of the project, and to make academic work in the area easier and flexible for the students.
The Ketu North Parliamentary Hopeful donated an undisclosed amount of money to help complete the 4-unit classroom block.
Speaking after the donation, Mr. Tanko said, the facility, when completed, would serve as a center for the learning of history, especially the rich history of the Volta region.
Mr. Tanko, he said, believes that the learning of history could influence the youth to become influential people in the near future “and so he didn’t hesitate to support the project”.
According to him, the school authorities wrote to him and other leaders in the region, and with how he values education, he decided to support the project wholeheartedly.
“I earlier handed over some amount of money to representatives and NDC members from Atiteti. This gesture is in response to an earlier appeal to me to support the community roof a 4-unit classroom block situated on the premises of their only basic school.
“The project in question was heavily funded a couple of years ago by our MP, Hon. Dr. James Klutse Avedzi, but somehow stalled at the roofing level due to the lack of funds. The current surge in the enrollment of pupils in the school has compelled the school authorities to fall on the leaders of the town to explore other sources of funding to urgently complete what has been started by the MP.
He added, “Education, which is key to the development and progress of every society, will always remain among the topmost priorities for the Tanko Foundation and my good self.
“I expect that the little I have offered will do so much in getting the roofing done so as to make available enough space to accommodate part of the school’s population for effective teaching and learning.”
