The Volta Region has some of the most viable business investment prospects spread across several sectors of industry and there should be a united and intentional effort to woo investors there, Council of State Member and serial entrepreneur, Gabriel Kwamigah-Atokple mostly known as Tanko, has said.
Tanko, one of the youngest persons elected as a Member of the Council of State, suggested that the socio economic development of the Region cannot be a task left for Government alone and there is the need for a concerted effort to galvanize private led initiative and participation.
He pledged commitment to go the extra mile to bring the relevant stakeholders together to work as a team to ensure the Region sees accelerated development and economic growth
“I am a very optimistic and positive minded person and with a united effort we can make the Volta Region a big-time business hub; I have business investments there and I know what I am talking about. There are great persons running thriving businesses in the Volta and we should be thinking in this direction of industrialization and job creation.
“God puts people in leadership at a particular time for a reason. Such things are not accidental and I believe this is the time we should come together to build some generational businesses for the Region.
“I am looking forward to tapping from the rich depth of knowledge of our traditional leaders, persons who have been in policy making positions, the business class and the political class to make this happen if we can come together with one unity of purpose”, Tanko explained further.
He said the Region has viable prospects in several sectors including but not limited to agribusiness, tourism and hospitality, real-estate, education, health and traditional herbal medicine all backed by the requisite human resource.
“We can get this right and when we do, there would not be the need for the youth to migrate to the national capital in search of jobs. People from other regions would rather be moving to the Volta to work and to spend”, Tanko added.
Tanko said one of his priority areas would be on the youth empowerment and development. He would therefore collaborate with relevant bodies like the office of the Regional Minister, Municipal and District Chief Executives and Assemblies across the Region to make sure all needs of everyone is meant.
“The task ahead is difficult and big and we shall progress in all what we intend to do. My main focus aside pointing out genuine opinions to the President would also be to make sure needs of my Volta people are met,” he stated in a phone interview with The New Publisher.
He added, “I have always believed that leadership is about service. My business and philanthropic work have been about empowering people and creating opportunities. Now, I have the opportunity to bring that same energy and commitment to the Council of State to advocate for policies that will uplift the Volta Region and Ghana as a whole. I have a clear agenda to serve and become a strong advocate for economic empowerment, youth development, and regional progress.
“This victory is not about me; it’s about the Volta Region. It’s about ensuring that our voices are heard, our needs are met, and our youth have a future they can look forward to. I am committed to ensuring that this region receives its fair share of national development. My business background will give me a unique advantage in policy discussions around job creation, investment promotion, and sustainable development.”
