T’di girls: My daughter has died, I feel it – Father of Priscilla Koranchie

Father of one of the Takoradi missing girls, now declared dead by police, has said he is convinced that his daughter is not alive.

“My instincts tell me my daughter is dead,” he said.

Alex Koranchie, father of 18-year-old Priscilla Mantebea Koranchie who was abducted on December 18, 2018 at Nkroful, a suburb in Takoradi, by a suspected kidnap-for-ransom syndicate, made the comment on Adom FM’s current affairs show, Burning Issues on Wednesday, September 18, 2019.

His comments follow the refusal of the families of the three other victims of the suspected kidnap syndicate that their daughters have died.

The deaths of the four kidnapped girls were confirmed to the media by the Ghana Police Service on Monday, September 16 following the results of a DNA testing of bones found in a cesspit located at the home of a key suspect, Samuel Udotek Wills.

Even though the families of the other three victims, Priscilla Blessing Bentum, 21; Ruth Love Quayson 18, and Ruth Abakah (believed to be in her late teens) are doubting the authenticity of the result, calling for independent tests, Mr Koranchie has remained nonchalant.

“I cried the very day she was taken, thinking my daughter may never return to me and for now I’ll take it that she is dead and if she is alive too, God will reveal,” he told host, Akua Boakyewaa Yiadom.

Mr Koranchie, however, says “I cannot claim the bones of my daughter for burial until the other three families agree.”

Meanwhile, head of Forensic Department at the University of Cape Coast, Dr Richard Afoakwa speaking on the same show said: “the position of the families will affect the trial process.”

He said the ability of the police to push for the conviction of the suspects, largely depends on the acceptance by the families that the girls are dead.

”If the police say the girls are dead, then they can prove that they were killed by the suspects but the families of these same girls are saying the girls are not dead so how can the trial continue,” he quizzed.
