A teacher has been confirmed dead while over 40 students of the Mangoase Senior High School are injured in a fatal road accident Saturday Morning.
All the injured are receiving treatment at the Atua and St. Martins De Porres Hospitals, however, one student who is in critical condition after sustaining a fracture in the leg has been referred to the Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua.
The Students were heading to the Somanya area on an educational trip.
According to Sources, the bus driver was speeding while negotiating a curve on a rough road causing the bus to veer off the road and crashing after somersaulting when he attempted to apply brakes.
According to the Deputy Director of Nursing Services at the Atua Government Hospital, Naa -Williams, the nurses and doctors have been called in to help attend to the situation at the emergency ward.
She said, x-ray is being conducted on the students to investigate the extent of injuries sustained.
The Headmaster of Mangoase Senior High School, Seth Abgesi, told journalists that he was rushing to the hospital where the students have been admitted.
According to him, the trip was sanction by Management of the school.
