Terrifying armed robbery unfolds on Kumasi to Accra bus route, leaving passengers traumatized

In a harrowing incident, passengers aboard a bus with the registration number BW9090 experienced a nightmarish armed robbery attack on the Kumasi to Accra route. Among the victims was Elder Paul R.K. Sabla, a retired superintendent of prisons.

The terrifying incident transpired between 12:40 and 12:55am in the early hours of Friday when the bus made a routine stop at a filling station.

According to Elder Sabla, the tranquility of the night was shattered by gunshots shortly after the bus resumed its journey towards Accra.

“I was tired and dozing off on the bus when I suddenly got awakened by the robbery,” he recounted.

The VIP bus, en route from Dorma Ahenkro through Sunyani at a location known as Dumasi and heading towards Konongo, was intercepted by armed and dangerous robbers. Approximately 40 passengers on board were forced to lie on the floor as the assailants carried out a brazen robbery.

In a chilling account, Elder. Sabla expressed his shock and terror, highlighting the deteriorating safety conditions in Ghana. He lamented that the country is no longer a safe haven and urged authorities to prioritize and enhance security measures to protect the lives and belongings of citizens.

During the robbery, the armed robbers looted the bus, seizing valuables such as phones, wristwatches, bags, purses, and other personal belongings from all passengers. The victims are now grappling with the psychological aftermath of the traumatic experience, emphasizing the urgent need for heightened security measures and vigilance on Ghana’s roads.

Elder Sabla’s call for improved security has resonated with many who share concerns about the rising insecurity in the country. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the necessity for proactive steps and enhanced security on major transportation routes. Authorities have been urged to thoroughly investigate the incident, bring the perpetrators to justice, and take measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
