Textor Plans to hire Abel Ferreira for Everton

John Textor, the American bidder for Everton, aims to bring in top Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira if he gains control of the club.

Textor, who owns Botafogo in Rio as part of his Eagle Football Holdings empire, is a strong admirer of Ferreira. The Portuguese coach, who led Palmeiras to the Brazilian title last season, is under contract until the end of next year.

Despite this, Textor is determined to make Ferreira part of his plans for Everton and is prepared to pay the necessary compensation.

Textor is working to finalize his takeover of Everton while also seeking to sell his shares in Crystal Palace. Fellow Americans Josh Harris and David Blitzer are interested in acquiring these shares.

Textor’s focus remains on securing Everton, which could put considerable pressure on current manager Sean Dyche. Dyche managed to keep Everton in the Premier League under challenging circumstances last season, but the team has struggled this season, starting poorly and conceding 10 goals in three defeats.

Textor has also expressed interest in Paulo Fonseca, another highly rated Portuguese coach currently with AC Milan.

However, attracting Fonseca could prove difficult. Textor has shown a keen eye for managerial talent, as evidenced by his role in appointing Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace. Glasner, who replaced Roy Hodgson in February, led Palace to a top-half finish by winning seven of 13 matches.

As Everton’s new season continues to falter, with three consecutive losses, Textor’s potential takeover and managerial changes could become a significant turning point for the club.
