The Gas Consortium Announces The 6th Edition Of Ghana Gas Forum

The Gas Consortium (TGC) is set to organise the 6th edition of the Ghana Gas Forum (GGF2019) in Accra. The Forum is the leading energy conference focused on bolstering gas policymaking via stakeholder engagements among government, industry and other relevant players.

The 2019 edition of the forum to be held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City would be chaired by Mr Charles Darku, the former Managing Director of Tullow, GRIDCo and current Chairman of the Advisory Board for The Gas Consortium (TGC).

This year’s event scheduled to take place from November 18th to 20th 2019, under the theme “Towards the Optimization of Regional Gas Resources” will enable delegates  reflect on the opportunities to develop a globally competitive gas sector on the back of the availability of significant gas reserves in the West African sub-region.

The theme is considered timely as it would assess the extent to which the sub-region’s gas resources can be leveraged to impact positively on the development of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The Energy Minister’s Session remains a key highlight of the forum, led by the sector Minister, where government’s policy priorities are presented to the forum.

There will also be an all-day CEO Interactive Session to allow CEOs of a range of companies along the gas value chain to present their perspectives on topical issues affecting the industry. This year’s forum will continue to invite inputs from investors, industry professionals, technocrats and political actors during activities such as the Roundtable Session.

The forum exchanges and debates will culminate in policy recommendations that advocate for government interventions and policy realignments where necessary.

The GGF2019 conference will open with an invitation-only Pre-Conference Networking Event on the evening of Monday, 18th November 2019. An exclusive post-conference Strategy Session on 21st and 22nd November, 2019, to be facilitated by Mr. Emmanuel Anyaeto, MD/CEO of Integrated Gas and Energy Services LLC, Los Angeles USA, will be focused on “The Impact of the African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA) on Natural Gas and Power Trading”.

This component of the forum will enable TGC contribute towards building the capacity of the gas industry, by engaging sector leadership on key areas that impact business strategy and policy planning.

Speaking on behalf of The Gas Consortium, the Executive Secretary Mr. Senam F. Gbeho stated, This year’s forum provides another opportunity for stakeholders to address policy issues in Ghana’s emerging gas industry while adopting a forward-looking regional view that promotes the shared interests. The forum content and structure reflect on the long-term sustainability of the industry and linkages with the broader national and continental development agenda. The participation of colleagues from other countries within the West-Africa sub-region will ensure that discussions factor in view points and positions that advance the objective of optimizing regional gas resources”

GGF2019 continues to be endorsed by the Ministry of Energy and open to organizations and practitioners with shared interests who may register to attend.
