Ghana’s adorable singer of global sensation, Wendy Shay, got involved in a hair-raising road accident late Saturday night when a tipper-truck loaded with sand crashed with her Jeep Wrangler between the ACP Estates and Kwabenya Junction in Accra.
The crash was severe and toppled the tipper-truck while Wendy Shay’s vehicle got locked halfway in a ditch.
The popular musician, in her first words after the crash, just moments before she was rushed to the hospital said she was in an agonizing head pain because her head had hit the dashboard and therefore unable to talk much.
Eyewitness said though Wendy Shay tried her best avoid the tipper truck which had skidded off the road and headed her direction, her vehicle got hit anyway.
Her anxious fans across the world took to social media on Sunday to express fear and worry for her safety but persons in close links with her management team, Ruff Town Records, said she was “doing fine and okay”.
Checks by The New Publisher from the Road Manager of the artiste, Nana Reagan Sunday night indicated that Wendy Shay was still at the hospital responding to treatment.
Regan said the musician had severe injuries on parts of her body, but the happy news for all her fans is that she can talk and doctors are attending to her.
Regan however asked the general public to remember the ‘Survivor’ hitmaker in their prayers.
“She is still at the hospital responding to treatment so well. She had some injuries on her body, but thank God she can talk.
“There is hope. We are hoping for her to return back home soon and give Ghanaians the best songs as she always does. The doctors have said her injuries can be treatment. Her management ask the whole populace to pray for her, she needs it” Nana Regan said.
Accident
According to the Deputy News Editor of UTV, Prince Obimpeh who was at the accident scene, the RuffTown Records signee, Wendy Asiamah Addo popularly known as Wendy Shay on Saturday night was in her Jeep Wrangler vehicle with the registration number plate, SHAY 21-19 when the crash happened.
Prince Obimpeh spoke with UTV: “You are aware that the stretch of road between the ACP Junction and Kwabenya is typically clear at night, thus despite the presences of police, cars travel at top speed anyway. Coming out of the ditch, not far from the KNUST Accra Campus Junction, I noticed a group of people gathering around a car.
“I made the decision to park and observe what was going on. When I checked, I saw a woman getting out of a car. She resembled Wendy Shay and had dreadlocks… I got closer; I could see that it was Wendy Shay. The Wrangler she was driving had a unique registration number plate. I quickly drew up to her and inquired as to what was going on.
“She said she was in an excruciating head pain after hitting her head on the dashboard and that she is unable to speak much.”
