Five persons have sustained various degrees of injuries while two others remain in critical condition after they were involved in an accident on the Obuasi-Anhwiankwanta road yesterday.
A tipper truck with registration number GR 608-20 and a Hyundai mini bus with number AW 299-11 crashed at Kunka near Obuasi.
All victims are being treated at the Obuasi Government Hospital while one of them, a 17-year-old has been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
The mini bus was headed to Obuasi from Kyekyere while the truck was headed to Kuasi from the opposite direction when the incident occurred around 5:30 pm, Monday.
The crash alerted residents of the area who rushed to the scene to witness.
Confirming the accident to journalists, the police, said the drivers of the two vehicles have bolted and are being sought to assist with investigations.
This accident comes just days after some 14 passengers died after a cargo truck crashed into two buses at the Kyekyewere Community stretch of the Accra to Kumasi Highway.
Over 50 other passengers were injured in the accident which occurred when a DAF Cargo Truck believed to be heading towards neighbouring Burkina Faso, burst a tyre; causing the driver to lose control of the steering wheel.
The vehicle subsequently veered off its lane and crashed into the two buses fully loaded with passengers from Kumasi to Accra.
An STC bus with registration number GE 8131-16 and another bus with registration number GT4997 -20 in their attempt to dodge the DAF Cargo truck crashed.
