Togbe Afede Cries Over Unemployment
THE PRESIDENT of the National House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede, has lamented the high unemployment rate in the country.
According to him, it is unfortunate that young and energetic graduates, who are willing to contribute their quota towards national growth, still remain jobless.
Considering that the youth are the future leaders of the country, the traditional leader said the unemployment situation facing the youth should be addressed without delay.
Togbe Afede therefore called for a collective effort by all and sundry to do something so that the high unemployment rate in the country would become a thing of the past.
“Let’s join hands to plan and help reduce the unemployment situation in the country”, he said during a meeting of the National House of Chiefs at Manhyia in Kumasi.
Togbe Afede also warned that partisan politics should be relegated to the background if the country wants to overcome the unemployment menace, adding that the country needs all hands on deck to accelerate national transformation.
Togbe Afede, who spoke on a wide range of pressing national issues, affirmed the National House of Chiefs’ support for the creation of new regions in the country.
He, however, entreated those entrusted with the creation of the regions to work in a transparent and fair manner so that the policy would not face challenges.
Togbe Afede also said petitions that had been received in connection with the creation of the regions, should be attended to in a fair manner.
