The Secretary of the Toll Workers with Disabilities has refuted claims that the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) did not hire any of its members.
Initially, the Ghana Toll Workers Association disputed the YEA’s statement of hiring 282 persons with disabilities, calling it false.
However, on February 22 in Accra, the CEO of YEA, Kofi Baah Agyepong, announced the government’s plan to employ former toll workers, aiming to provide them with financial stability and a chance to contribute to disability rights policies.
In response, the workers denied being hired by the government. Yet, Ametor Ellah, secretary of the PWD toll workers, verified that he and some colleagues were indeed employed by YEA.
Ellah clarified that contrary to rumors, some individuals were hired based on their qualifications ranging from senior high school to degree levels. He personally underwent an interview and was informed of his ready appointment letter.
“I want to let you know that it is not true that some of our people have not been employed based on their qualifications. They were asking for qualifications from SHS to degree level. “Some of them have been employed and I have personally been employed. I was called for an interview and I was told that my appointment letter is ready.
