Tolon MP Scares NDC

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tolon Constituency in the Northern Region, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu continues to send fear down the spines of his political opponents as he kick starts a campaign for his re-election.

Alhaji Habib Iddrisu who is leaving nothing to chance in his quest to retain the seat for the New Patriotic Party(NPP), has intensified his engagements with Chiefs, opinion leaders, Religious Leaders, youth groups and women’s associations who he indicates all matter in the development of Tolon.

On Saturday, August 31, 2024, residents of the Tolon District were shocked when the launch of ‘Volunteers for Soyalana’ in Chirifoyili, a farming community in the area turned out to be one of the biggest rallies in the constituency.

The First Deputy Majority Chief Whip who himself was overwhelmed by the crowd that stormed the community said it was a signal to the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) that their quest to reclaim the seat was an exercise in futility.

“This is a manifestation of a clear love shown to me by my constituents who are eager to see me back in parliament. I thank them for their support and I urge them to let this translate into votes during the 2024 polls. I am optimistic they will keep their word and Inshallah, I will be going for my second term”, he disclosed.

Alhaji Habib Iddrisu has been credited for bringing massive developmental projects to the constituency which has never been witnessed in its history for which reason residents are wondering if anyone can surpass his remarkable achievements in the area.

According to the Northern Regional Secretary of the NPP Professor Zakaria Hudu, “ Tolon seat used to be a won with a gap of 1056 votes but Alhaji Habib Iddrisu in 2020 won with a gap of over 9,000 votes and the kind of work he has done in the constituency makes the Tolon seat a safe seat for the NPP”

Meanwhile, the lawmaker in a post about Saturday’s event said “I had the honor of overseeing the successful launch of “Volunteers for Soyalana” in Chirifoyili—a dynamic youth volunteer group made up of passionate and hardworking members from every corner of our constituency.
