Tower Mast Collapses on A Trader in Takoradi
A Tower mast on Tuesday collapsed and fell on Mr Abdul Laziz Mumuni, a 36 years store attendant at Kojokrom in Takoradi.
The victim who was in his kiosk, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Effia Nkwanta Government Hospital for treatment.
Confirming the incident to the Ghana News Agency, ASP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, Western Regional Police PRO said at about 1430 hours Tuesday afternoon, a Mast fixed on top of a storey building at the Kojokrom Lorry Station-Market Circle at Takoradi collapsed and fell on a Toyota mini bus Number AC 1246-16 and a nearby kiosk.
The mast according to eye witnesses at the station was rusty and weak and all efforts to get the owners to remove it proved futile.
They hoped that city authorities would ensure that such masts were mounted in the outskirts of cities to avert disasters.
