THE GOVERNMENT of Trinidad and Tobago has officially invited the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for a state visit this month (July).
Wendell Vincent Carlton De Landro, the Trinidad and Tobago High Commissioner to Ghana and Nigeria, announced the invitation at the Manhyia Palace.
This was when the Trinidad and Tobago’s envoy paid a courtesy call on the 16th Asante Monarch where the two dignitaries had successful discussions.
He said the people of Trinidad and Tobago would mark their emancipation day on July 30, 2023, and his natives would be happy to see Otumfuo in their midst.
“The people of Trinidad would feel proud and elated to see a true African King like Otumfuo to celebrate with us on our emancipation day”, he pointed out.
According to him, the government of Trinidad and Tobago, originally, wanted to host Otumfuo in 2020 but it couldn’t materialize because of the Covid-19.
Wendell Vincent Carlton De Landro assured the Asantehene that a befitting welcome ceremony awaits him in Trinidad and Tobago late July 2023.
Otumfuo, with broad smiles, stated that he has accepted the invitation and he was hoping to enjoy his short stay in the Trinidad and Tobago.
