A 12 year old Fulani girl was in the early hours of Sunday murdered in a cold blood by an unknown person at the outskirt of Gomoa Ekwamkrom, near Agona Swedru in the Central Region.
Miss Ajula Sumaila, was said to have been sent by her father, Sumaila Omaro, a Fulani herdsman leaving in the outskirts of Gomoa Ekwamkrom at about 0630 hours to fetch water from a well near their village for household chores.
Police Superintendent, Seth Panti Yirenkyi, Agona Swedru District Police Commander disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Agona Swedru on Monday.
The District Commander said at about 0730 hours in the morning, the father of the deceased reported that he sent his daughter to go and fetch water but she never returned.
Superintendent Yirenkyi told GNA that not quite long, he heard some shouting that his daughter had been killed by an unknown person about 100 meters away from the village where he rear his cattle.
According to the District Commander Omaro rushed to the scene and saw his daughter dead with deep cutlass cut at the back of her head.
Superintendent Yirenkyi said the Police rushed to the crime scene and found the deceased lying in pool of blood.
He said the Police took the body to the Agona Swedru Municipal Hospital for preservation and also for doctors to perform autopsy on it.
The District Commander said so far no arrest has been made by the Police and investigations are ongoing to unravel mystery behind the killing.
He said that the Police had invited Omaro to further probe to ascertain the circumstance led to the murder and that preliminary investigations has disclosed the family has no problems with natives in and around the area.
