Two drowned in river

Two children have unfortunately drowned in the Dwahel river at Ahodwo near Sepaase, a community in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region.

The deceased persons have since been identified as 15 years old, Shilla Twumasi and Alex Gyamfi, who is said to be eight years old.

Sadly, the deceased persons are said to be related as they are from the same family. They, reportedly, got drowned on Saturday morning.

Kwame Ampofo, their grandfather, reported the heartbreaking incident to the Abuakwa Police on Saturday to start their investigations.

According to a police report, the grandfather said the two children had gone to swim but unfortunately they got drowned in the process.

“On receipt of the information they proceeded to the scene and retrieved the victims in an unconscious state. They were rushed to Afari Community Hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival by the medical officer.

“Police proceeded to the hospital on enquiries and inspection and found the bodies of the deceaseds lying in the same hospital morgue.

“On inspection, mucus were found dripping from their nostrils as well as faeces from their anus. No marks of violence were seen”, the police report seen by THE NEW PUBLISHER said.
