Two more persons involved in the Wassa Asikuma accident in the Western Region have died, bringing the total death toll to eight.
The accident occurred when a KIA truck and a Sprinter Bus were involved in a head-on collision at Wassa Asikuma on Thursday, March 3, 2022.
The bus was fully loaded with passengers from Kumasi heading to Tarkwa when the crash occurred.
Six persons, including a two-year-old boy, died instantly.
In a Citi News interview, the Station Officer for the Wassa Akropong Unit of the MTTD, Chief Inspector Martin Atiaest, said two of the injured persons have died as of today, Friday.
He also said no arrest has been made since the drivers are all on admission.
“The injured were sent to the Wassa Akropong hospital. Yesterday [Thursday] six persons died, and this [Friday] morning, two more people have died, bringing the death toll to 8. 12 people are currently at the Wassa Akrapong Government Hospital, 2 at St. Mark, and one at Bettany Clinic. There have been no arrests yet, both drivers are on admission.”
