Two Police Officers have been shot dead at Drobonso in the Sekyere Afram Plains District of the Ashanti Region this dawn.
Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Ken Yeboah, who confirmed the incident to Citi News said the officers were returning from night patrol duties when they were shot.
He said the officers came across a road block, and immediately they stopped, they were fired at by unknown assailants.
“They were ambushed. They went on patrol and on their way back to Kumawu, part of the road had been blocked so when they stopped then they fired at them.”
Two of the officers died instantly, whilst the driver of the vehicle also sustained injuries.
The bodies of the deceased officers have been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital awaiting autopsy.
COP Yeboah said preparations are also underway to transfer the injured police officer from the Effiduase Government Hospital to Accra for further treatment.
It is unclear the motive behind the dastardly act.
