U/W: Suspected NPP Youth Attack NADMO Boss
Some youth suspected to be New Patriotic Party (NPP) members attacked the Upper West Regional Office of NADMO Wednesday evening over issues surrounding the party’s constituency polls.
Following the attack, staff of NADMO are threatening to boycott work today, February 1, 2018 if the youth are not arrested.
The youth, according to the Regional Director of NADMO, Issahaku Abubakari, who is also the regional organiser of the NPP, belong to an aspirant of the constituency elections who is not happy that people he sponsored were losing the electoral area polls of the party.
According to Mr. Abubakari, he decided to have the elections of some electoral areas suspended in the Wa East Constituency following some irregularities.
“I decided that some electoral area elections be suspended so that the regional office can look into some complaints and that is just my crime,” he told Starr News’ Upper West regional correspondent Musah Lansah.
He added: “I was in my office when I heard the noise from outside. My secretary then came and locked me inside because the boys numbering about 10 were forcing to come into the office to beat me up. My security who resisted was beaten mercilessly”.
“Sensing danger I called the police who came in and arrested all of them but just at that time Regional Minister was also coming out of his office. He then asked the police to release the boys since it was a party matter and I must say I was not happy with the actions of the minister,” he stressed.
Starr News checks reveal that pressure is mounting on the Regional Minister to have the youth rearrested.
Officials of NADMO say that a cash amount of Gh¢5000 went missing during the raid at the office.
