The University of Education, Winneba has received various PPE kits and equipment from the government as final year student’s resume academic activities.
The support comprises a list of 38,000 face masks, hand sanitizers, thermometer guns with some veronica buckets.
The university has also fixed over 130 automatic hand sanitizer dispensers at various public spaces to augment supplies from the government.
According to the university, final year students who arrived on campus today [Monday, 15th June 2020] will be registered at the various halls of residence and given Personal Protective Equipment.
Speaking to Citi News, Public Relations Officer of the University, Ernest Azutiga said academic work will start tomorrow, Tuesday.
“The final year students who will be arriving today to start their academic activities so between tomorrow and Friday we will use that to wrap up what was undone in terms of lectures and post-internship seminars and all other seminars in that one week period.”
The government has made available Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and logistics to 234 universities across the country.
The first phase of the distribution of PPE and logistical supplies to educational institutions was done by the Ghana Armed Forces began on Saturday 13th June 2020.
Addressing journalists in Accra, Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said the 234 tertiary institutions are dotted across the country.
He said 57 are in the Greater Accra Region, 31 in the Ashanti Region, 18 in the Central Region, 14 in the Northern Region, 22 in the Eastern Region, 17 in the Volta Region, 11 in the Western Region, 14 in the Bono Region, 11 in the Upper East Region, 11 in the Upper West Region, 9 in the Ahafo Region, 6 in the Bono East Region, 5 in the Western North, 3 in the Oti Region, 4 in the Savannah Region and 1 in the North East Region.
