The University of Education, Winneba has commissioned an ICT laboratory valued at GHc 500,000.
The 103-seater lab is at the university’s North campus.
Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Anthony Afful Broni, said the university’s vision of becoming a centre of information technology will finally be realized with the introduction of the facility.
Speaking to Citi News at the commissioning ceremony, the Vice Chancellor indicated that the ICT laboratory will enhance teaching and learning.
“Students will no longer have to walk long distances to the south campus to use the lab, it is right here at the north campus. We are a first class teacher education university in the country and in this modern era you cannot seek to deliver if you produce students without ICT background and that is why we have this lab”, the Vice Chancellor noted.
He was optimistic that the computers will enhance the day to day activities of students on campus.
“We believe that the 103 seater ICT lab will be of a great source of help to the students of this university although we didn’t get the space to fit all the 200 computers,” he added.
