Uganda Shows Otumfuo Love
Occupant of the Golden Stool, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has received a rousing welcome in Uganda where is travelled last week as the special guest of honour for the 25th anniversary of the Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom’s stay on the throne.
The Asante’ Monarch’s presence in the country alone made Ghana become a household name in a positive light in the country.
Reports monitored by THE PUBLISHER indicate that the Asantehene’s arrival at the Entebbe Airport alone, started to spread Ghana’s name as several people who turned up at the airport to welcome him were treated to a splendid display of the rich Asante culture demonstrated to welcome the 16th monarch of the Golden Stool.
Hundreds of Ugandans, reportedly, followed the Asantehene’s convoy from the airport to the center of Kampala, the capital city, just to catch a glimpse of him.
Otumfuo’s presence in the country also dominated the headlines of newspapers in Uganda for about five days, thereby marketing Ghana in the process.
The highlight of Otumfuo’s visit was when he attended a colourful ceremony to mark 25 years of the Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom’s stay on the throne.
Surrounded by a retinue of powerful Asante chiefs and servants from the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, Otumfuo was the toast of the attendance of the event.
The Asantehene, who was the special guest of honour for the ceremony, also gave a powerful message, aimed at making Africa prosperous and strong.
Otumfuo, who desires to see Ghana and Africa developed, during his short stay, also visited a pharmaceutical company in Uganda to monitor how they operate.
He also urged the Ugandan pharmaceutical company to establish a branch in Ghana so as to help provide jobs for the talented Ghanaians youth.
The Asantehene, who owns all lands in the Asante kingdom, personally pledged to play a role to make the pharmaceutical company move to Ghana successfully.
