The National Youth Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Sammi Awuku, believes the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is only united when it comes to corruption.
He made this statement on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ in reference to the NDC’s just ended Unity Walk which was held in Tamale.
The event was held to indicate that the NDC was more united and poised to wrestle power from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the 2020 polls.
On the contrary, the Youth Organiser felt NDC was never divided from the beginning because the ex-President’s mantra has always been that he was leading a united party so there was no reason for the health walk.
“What amazes me most is the theme of the event – unity walk” he said.
Mr. Awuku said the party is corrupt because they did not have enough participants for the health walk but had a lot of vote during elections.
“As a Party activist, I don’t underestimate NDC any day. This is a party that had 44% of votes if it’s translated that is around 4 million votes,” he said.
According to a member of the NDC’s Communication team, Anim Piesie, he believed the walk was organized to “rekindle the spirit” of the party after their defeat in last year’s elections.
Mr. Awuku believes that a party does not organize ‘unity walks’ after the loss of an election rather they sit to reflect on their past actions.
