The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has conferred a Honorary Doctorate Degree on the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo.
The University conferred the award for her role in impacting lives in education and health and also for the setting up the Rebecca Foundation.
President Akufo-Addo joined his wife Rebecca Akufo-Addo to receive the award presented at the 15th Congregation (5th Session) & Special Congregation Ceremony of the UPSA on December 12, 2023.
The UPSA also conferred an Honorary Doctorate degree of Laws on the former first female Speaker of Parliament, Justice Joyce Bamford Addo for her role in improving the justice system and remarkable service to Ghana in parliamentary proceedings.
The first female Chief Justice, Justice Georgina Theodora Wood also received an Honorary Doctorate degree of Laws.
She received the award for her role in improving the justice system, introducing the alternative dispute resolution and her drive in empowering women.
Mrs Akufo-Addo, who spoke on behalf of the three honorees called on Ghanaians to consider voting for a woman as president of the nation in the near future.
The ceremony will be used to award degree certificates to persons who successfully completed their programmes of study in the 2022/2023 academic year.
Among the graduands is 3news.com’s Laud Nartey who will be awarded a Masters degree in Communication Studies.
