Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma West constituency, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has for the past months been engaging with opinion leaders, chiefs, residents both men and women including children, in the constituency, with a comprehensive update on various projects by herself as their representative in Parliament, the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia administration.
She explained that the engagement with the constituents has become of necessity to help present updates on various projects and engaging directly with the constituents and collate feedback on projects and policies as well as help her identify the needs and wants of the constituents.
The meeting started with a comprehensive update on various projects in the constituency with highlight on recent infrastructure developments, including the completion of a new community clinic that would significantly enhance local healthcare services. The crowd erupted in cheers as she announced that the clinic was not only equipped with state-of-the-art facilities but also staffed with skilled professionals committed to providing quality care.
“My dear friends and neighbors, it is always a privilege to stand before you and share the strides we are making together. Your voices matter, and today I want to address both our achievements and the challenges we face” she said to begin the engagement at one of the centers in the constituency.
She also spoke about the ongoing efforts to improve local education with a deep commitment to youth development, detailing the new scholarships awarded to underprivileged students and the renovation of several schools in the area.
In a Facebook post expressing excitement over the success aspect of the engagement, she noted, “I recently had the pleasure of meeting with the wonderful people of Opetekwei to address key issues and share updates on our community projects. During our discussion, we covered important issues such as road improvements, street lights, sanitation, and the progress of the Agenda 111 hospital construction. It’s always invigorating to hear directly from constituents about their needs and concerns, and I am committed to ensuring these issues are addressed promptly.
She added, “Reflecting on our achievements, I am proud to highlight some significant developments in our constituency. The completion of the Dansoman Court, SSNIT and Gbegbe Police Stations, and the Akweibu and Mpoasei Basic Schools, as well as the Tunga Islamic School, are all milestones that contribute to our community’s growth and well-being. These projects represent our collective efforts to improve infrastructure and education, and I look forward to continuing our work together to build a better future for all.”
In another engagement, she noted. “Today, as part of my routine tour in my constituency, I visited the famous Dansoman Draught Association at Kofi ne Ama in the Ga Manye Electoral Area. I had a very quiet time with the players as usual and also shared my vision for the constituency with them. They were happy for the various developmental projects in the constituency that I have been able to lobby for the constituents. The Chairman of the Association was also grateful for my endless assistance to the association and, as usual, Oliver Twist, asked for more, which I also promised to meet their demands.”
The Question & Answer session that follows every engagement session was lively, with residents voicing their opinions and questions on various topics. From concerns about security to inquiries about job creation.
Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful listened attentively, and reiterated her commitment to serving the community with dedication and integrity saying, “Your feedback is invaluable. Together, we can continue to build a thriving Ablekuma West.”
Bawumia Visit
The Vice President and Presidential Candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Saturday evening as part of his tour in the Greater Accra Region visited and paid homage to Sempe Mantse, Nii Adote Otintor II – the Mankralo of the Ga state to celebrate Homowo with the Ga people.
A post on Hon. Ursula’s facebook page announcing the historic visit reads, “In a vibrant display of cultural pride and political presence, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia paid homage to the Sempe Mantse, Nii Adote Otintor II, the Mankralo of the Ga state, to climax his visit to celebrate Homowo with the Ga people. During the visit, Dr. Bawumia reaffirmed his commitment to preserving Ghana’s rich cultural heritage while emphasizing the importance of unity and peace during the upcoming elections. He expressed his deep respect for the traditions of the Ga people and pledged continued support for their development initiatives. I acknowledge that the vice president’s appearance at the Sempe palace is seen as a strategic move to solidify his connection with the grassroots and showcase his dedication to the cultural and social fabric of Ghana.”
