Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister responsible for Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD) last week hosted the German’s Ambassador to Ghana, H. E. Christoph Retzlaff and China’s Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Lu Kun respectively.
The two meetings were aimed at Ghana becoming a digital hub for global technology giants, how Ghana can strengthen their digitalization agenda addressing vital and needed social-economic issues among others.
The meetings were attended by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mrs Magdalene Apenteng, National Cyber Security Advisor, Dr. Albert Antwi Boasiako; staff from the Ministry and representatives from each Embassy.
Mrs. Ursula after the meeting with the China ambassador, noted on her Facebook wall: “China’s Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Lu Kun has paid a courtesy call on me. The meeting pivoted on Data security and how the two countries can strengthen their digitalisation agendas addressing areas of mutual interest and cooperation.”
She added, “There was a commitment by both parties to collaborate in beneficial initiatives. Ghana and China have traditionally shared a mutual relationship for several years. In attendance were the National Cyber Security Advisor, Dr. Albert Antwi Boasiako; Staff of the Ministry and representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Ghana.”
On part of the German’s Ambassador visit, she indicated, “German Ambassador to Ghana, H. E. Christoph Retzlaff has paid a farewell visit to me. The meeting was geared towards Ghana becoming a digital hub for global tech giants by establishing tech parks and hubs and a cyber city.”
She added, “Mrs Owusu-Ekuful underscored the good relationship between Ghana and Germany and reiterated her commitment to further strengthen such. She was grateful for Germany’s input in the Cyber Security Act and the Cyber Security eco-system. In attendance were the Chief Director of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, Mrs Magdalene Apenteng; National Cyber Security Advisor, Dr. Albert Antwi Boasiako; staff from the Ministry and representatives from the German Embassy.”
