US Softball Stars Storm Kumasi
A 22-MAN softball team from the United States of America (USA) has trained some teenagers in Kumasi about how to play the game.
The US team voluntarily organized series of softball clinics for some selected Kumasi youth, who desired to learn the sport.
They arrived in the country, specifically the Ashanti regional capital, during the latter weeks of 2017, it has been announced, and organized the clinics for interested teenagers at the Prempeh College campus, near Sofoline.
The Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, made the disclosure during a public programme at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi, recently.
According to him, the team trained the participants about all the techniques in softball to help them become familiar with the sport.
He praised the team for their shining example, noting that he was sure that very soon softball would become popular in Kumasi.
Speaking at the launching of the Youth and Sports Development Sub-Committee of the KMA, Hon. Osei Assibey stressed the need for attention to be given to every sport and used the occasion to present a set of jerseys and football to colt’s teams and some selected schools in the Metropolis.
