Today, May 18, Accra at exactly 7pm will come to a standstill as the Accra International Conference Centre plays host to the ultimate celebration of music during the 20th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA).
In addition to rewarding hard working artistes, the VGMA has also come to be known as one of the events that see patrons dressed to the nines and this year promises not to be different.
This year’s event is scheduled to start at 7pm with a red carpet segment hosted by radio and television presenter Giovani Caleb and actress Sika Osei.
It will be a night where the 4s – Sarkodie, Samini, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy rock the stage alongside the 4Ks – Kuami Eugene, Kwesi Arthur, KiDi and King Promise.
To ensure every music genre gets a slot on the stage, the Gospel fraternity would be represented by Diana Hamilton.
Also patrons have been asked to brace up for a major nostalgic moments with legends Amakye Dede, Barimah Sydney among others.
Of course there will be international touch with Burnaboy from Nigeria, Queen of Soca, Alison Amanda Hinds from Barbados and South African rapper, songwriter and record producer, Cassper Nyovest.
Organizers, Charterhouse has promised a night of entertainment fused with lots of surprises to mark the award scheme’s 20th anniversary and to also reward musicians.
Chairman General, Kwami Sefa Kayi is the main man who will be steering affairs tonight as host, with award-winning DJ Black on the turntables.
The whole event according to organizers will be live on TV3 and DSTV with support from Graphic Showbiz, TV3, DSTV, GoTV, MTV Base and KPMG. It is sponsored by telecommunication giant Vodafone.
