VGMA 2020 Set For August – Charterhouse
Chief Executive Officer(CEO) for Charter House, Organizers of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Theresa Ayoade has disclosed that this year’s edition of the scheme will take place in August.
The Ghana Music Awards was expected to take place early this year but was put on hold because of the government’s restrictions on public gathering to contain the deadly COVID-19.
But in an interview on Joy News, Mrs Ayoade disclosed that the event has been scheduled for August this year to award people who have excelled in their various fields in the music industry in the period under review.
She said her team and her reviewed their programmes after the President announced that the country will be running phased ease of the various restrictions put in place.
“The challenges of putting together logistics and not being sure of expected revenue is a real issue. In normal times, we will have been able to sell up to 4,000 tickets in VGMA-related events, but it is not so now.”
Theresah Ayoade indicated that the event house intends to use the digital ecosystem as well as the various guidelines put in place to organize events in order to give Ghanaians a memorable show this year.
She mentioned that there will be a live audience but a strict adherence to the various safety protocols.
“It may not be exactly as it used to be in the past but obviously, with what is happening now, it’s going to be a downscale version,” she said.
