Last Saturday at the Independence Square saw Ghana giants in the Music Industry all on one stage.
An event which happened for the first time in the 20-year history of the scheme, the VGMA Experience Concert, unlike the Nominees Jam saw Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and Samini on one stage.
Other acts that rocked the big stage on the night includes Adane Best, Adina, Akese Brempong, Kwesi Arthur, Tinny and a host of others.
The event saw opening performance from gospel singer Empress Gifty. She performed to about 30 mins of back-to-back hit songs.
Ground Up front liner Kwesi Arthur followed up with a spectacular performance, he performed to his several hit songs like Grind Day, African Girl, Woara among others.
The 2015 BET Award winner Stonebwoy astounded fans with his dance moves and had the audience singing along to his songs like it was the national anthem.
The highlight of the rave, however, was the ‘Michael Jackson’ effect Stonebwoy had on his fans the night of the event. He performed along his label signee OV and Kelvyn Boy.
Rapper Sarkodie and Samini didn’t disappoint on their side, they both brought ‘heaven’ down during their performance. The fans roared at each song performed by them.
Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale as the last act to perform showed his prowess to his Shatta Movement fans. He performed to about two hours on stage.
Shatta performed hit tracks spanning from Ayo, Taking Over, Wonders, Forget, Thunder Fire, Gringo, Mahama Paper and any many others. The SM president performed My level before calling it a night with only a few minutes to daybreak.
It is instructive to note however that the VGMA Experience Concert is the precursor to the main event, the 20th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Night slated for Saturday 18th May at the Conference Centre.
The night, dubbed GH Music’s biggest Night will see performances from some of the country’s biggest and hottest acts with other performing artistes from Nigeria, South Africa, The Barbados and more.
