Vile Propaganda Against ONMA MCE Fails
The Okaikwei North Municipal Chief Executive, Nii Boye Laryea has described as unfortunate accusations of sidelining Chiefs and Opinion Leaders in the Municipality.
He said it is impossible to run a one man show in the Assembly especially when most of the projects on the Assembly’s plans has to go through due process and laid down procedures.
According to the MCE, the claims are only meant to create disaffection, public ridicule and hatred for him in the exercise of his duties.
Mr. Laryea’s comments follow claims by some persons in the municipality suggesting that the MCE has neglected chiefs and opinion leaders in the Municipality.
The group, claimed that the MCE does not consult the chiefs and opinion leaders when embarking on projects adding that it would vehemently particularly oppose the proposed construction of a $300,000 ultra-modern Shopping Mall to be named after the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Shaributu.
This, THE NEW PUBLISHER sources say is part of a deliberate grand plot by some persons in the Municipality to derail the development agenda of the MCE.
The comprehensive plot including a smear campaign and series of other accusations to be rolled out in the coming days it said “would even shock the devil.”
Meanwhile, the paper has sighted a copy of a letter dated November 11, 2019 addressed to the MCE copied to Patrick Boamanh, the Member of Parliament for Okaikoi Central and the Minster of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) inviting the MCE to a meeting with the Chiefs.
The letter signed by one Ridwan Muctar-Abbas, Fadama Chief and signed by Nii Boi IV Abeka Mantse, Nii Dodoo Ansah II, Abeka Dzase and twelve others read in part: “we write to have a meeting with your outfit to discuss number of issues”.
It enumerated among others: “moving of the Municipal Office from Okaikoi Central to Okaikoi North; the proposed shopping Mall at New Fadama and projects being taken without informing opinion leaders.”
Interestingly, one of the issues of the group finds expression in another letter from Mr. Boamah dated September 18, 2019 over the construction of the shopping mall after an advertisement of interest in The Daily Graphic issue of the same day.
It said “my attention has been drawn to the advertisement in the Daily Graphic dated 18 September 2019 with regards to the construction of a shopping mall at New Fadama within the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly.”
The letter copied the National Chief Iman and six others further stated: “I wish to bring to your attention that Fadama has pressing needs of drains, roads and other infrastructural challenges that needs to be addressed.”
Mr. Boamah said “however, as the Member of Parliament for the Constituency, I would like to state that we are not in a rush for a shopping mall as stated by the Daily Graphic on 18th September 2019 and I believe the chiefs and elders of New Fadama share the same view’”
