Ghana will once again see massive development if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is elected into power in the 2020 elections, former President Mahama has said.
Mr. Mahama addressing party supporters at the Assin North constituency in the Central ahead of his party’s presidential primary said, Ghana is very hard and that Ghanaians are really complaining bitterly about the economy.
Mr. Mahama, who is very optimistic that things will turn around if he becomes president again said, “history can confirm that Ghana always develops and the citizens enjoy when the NDC is in power.”
Mr Mahama said the governing party in opposition made endless promises to Ghanaians leading to its victory in the 2016 general elections, but the only thing the government is now doing is just putting Ghanaians under harsh economic conditions.
The former president also highlighted that the governing New Patriotic Party in opposition made fuel prices a major campaign issue, even though petrol was sold at just GHC14.
He assured that, when he [Mahama] and the NDC are brought back to power in 2020, Ghana will see development again.
He, however, called for peace and unity among-st members of the party as the main objective of the party now is to win the 2020 general elections.
Mr. Mahama urged party supporters to desist from ‘fighting’ each other and vote for the right person to lead the party to victory in 2020.
The ex-president, who lost the 2016 polls by a million votes to Akufo-Addo, is seeking the mandate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to lead the party into the 2020 polls.
He is facing challengers who are mainly his appointees: Joshua Alabi, Sylvester Mensah, Alban Bagbin, Goosie Tanoh and Kweku Rickette Hagan.
