Residents of Wasa Juabo in the Western region have appealed to government to ask operation taskforce to halt an ongoing small scale mining activities in the area.
The indigenes have threatened to use violence to evict the Canadian miner who is currently mining in the area despite the ban on illegal and legal small scale mining across the country.
According to the Agona Family, which is mostly affected by the mining activities of C&G Alaska Company limited, the ruling government on January 30th 2017, terminated the mining lease of the company through the minerals commission.
However, they claim, the company is still mining in the area under the protection of some soldiers and private security officers.
The group disclosed this at a news conference in Kumasi.
According to the family spokesperson, they placed an injunction on the land where the foreigner is mining but the court injunction has been defied by the miner.
