Alvaro Morata has stated that his confidence hit rock bottom in the final month of last season after a frustrating start to his Chelsea career.
Netting seven goals in his first seven appearances for the 2016/17 Premier League champions, it appeared that the Blues had signed a gem to replace Diego Costa.
However, the goals started to dry up for the 26-year-old as he only netted three times after the turn of the year.
“The most important thing is that, finally, I have found the right way and my head is OK, In football physical condition is very important but the head is the most important thing.” – he said in an interview.
According to him, In and out of the team following the January arrival of Olivier Giroud from Arsenal, he was also hampered by a recurring back injury that stopped him from performing at his best.
Now back amongst the goals after netting five goals in his last six games for the club, the ex-Real Madrid has opened up on his struggles during his first year in the capital.
