We aren’t sabotaging Normalisation Committee – GPL clubs

The Premier League clubs have dismissed claims they are sabotaging the works of the Ghana Football Association Normalisation Committee.

This is after the Normalisation Committee announced the cancellation of their proposed Special Competition, which was to keep clubs active in the absence of domestic football competitions after the GFA was dissolved.

According to the NC, the competition was cancelled owing to the lack of support from Premier League teams.

This has drawn criticisms from the public with some accusing the 16 teams of trying to sabotage the efforts of the Dr Kofi Amoah-led committee.

“It’s totally untrue, it’s false that we[the Premier League clubs] are sabotaging the Normalisation Committee’s work,” Eric Alagidede, a spokesperson for the clubs, said on Joy News.

He added that ”if there is one category of people who really want to see the Normalisation Committee succeed and leave the scene as soon as possible, it’s the football clubs because the longer they stay the longer there will be no football so why would we want to sabotage their efforts?.”

“They [Normalisation Committee] have goofed from day one when they decided to put this competition together. You cannot organize a competition involving clubs from Premier League and Division One and choose representatives for Africa because Division One league clubs have no slot in CAF Champions League.”

The competition was to involve all 16 Premier League and all 48 Division One League teams in Ghana.

The Normalisation Committee’s mandate runs until March 31 this year.
