We have Not Received Any Letter From Otiko Over Retirement
THE RULING New Patriotic Party (NPP) seems not ready to let go its former National Women’s Organizer, Otiko Afisa Djaba.
The ruling political party has vowed to do everything in its power to persuade Otiko to rescind her decision to quit politics for good.
Otiko, who is the immediate past Minister for Gender, is rumoured to have announced her retirement from active politics, recently.
The ex-Gender minister, reportedly, became very angry when she was relieved of her post and appointed Ghana’s ambassador to Italy.
She, reportedly, therefore refused her latest appointment and also announced her retirement from active politics few days ago.
Commenting about the issue, the acting NPP National Communications Director, Adomako Barfi, said the party is yet to hear from Otiko about her retirement rumour.
“We have not received any letter from Otiko, which categorically states that she has indeed left political party or quit politics for good as being rumoured.
“She is a huge asset for the NPP and so if it eventually turned out that the rumours are true, I bet you, the NPP will not allow her to leave”, he said.
Speaking on radio in Kumasi, he stated that even before Otiko officially breaks her silence about her future “some of us are working to retain her in the party”.
Adomako Barfi said “I know her organizational skills and amazing competence so some of us are trying to let her stay in party if indeed she has decided to quit”.
