WOMEN HAVE been encouraged to actively participate in partisan politics in order to influence decisions that will favour their interest.
Dr. Tina Abrefa Gyan, the First Vice Chairperson of the United States branch of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), gave the counsel in a chat with THE NEW PUBLISHER.
According to her, the course of women could be best championed by women themselves and so the strong need for women to be active in partisan politics.
“To positively change the trajectory of women and families’ movement, more our kind have to be at the decision-making table”, she said to THE NEW PUBLISHER.
Dr. Abrefa Gyan added “in other words, we must prepare the menu or we will be on the menu. We need more women to do politics or politics will do women”.
The NPP guru therefore backed President Nana Akufo-Addo’s recent call on women to be active in politics and other public activities to become influential.
“The President is provoking females to vigorously contest for political positions which will give them the chance to utilize their knowledge, skills and experiences.
“This will enable women to influence policy and open doors for other females to contribute to the accelerated development of our country. And for this, the president deserve commendation”.
