We Sponsor Assembly Elections With Cash – NPP First Vice Chairman

The New Patriotic Party (NPP), has over the years sponsored candidates to contest district assembly and other lower elections although the constitution categorically frowns on political party sponsorship of candidates to such polls, first Vice Chairman of the NPP in the Ashanti Region, Kwabena Nsenkyire has revealed.

“I am the first Vice Chairman of the NPP in the Ashanti Region and so I know what I am talking about. Since time immemorial, the district level elections in the country have been partisan politics and that is not a secret”, Kwabena Nsenkyire, who is also the Assemblyman for Dichemso Electoral Area in Kumasi, made the alarming allegation

He continued: “The two major political parties, the NDC and NPP have over the years been sponsoring their party members to contest for assemblymen positions in the various electoral areas in the country and that the is truth.

“These two political parties always give cash to their preferred candidates in secret for campaign purposes in order to win the elections, so district level elections is partisan politics based”, Kwabena Nsenkyire alleged.

According to him, district level elections have been partisan politics based for so many years, pointing out that it is only hypocrites that would deny publicly that district level election is not partisan politics.

The NPP Chairman therefore lambasted the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership and their entire members for kicking against the NPP government’s decision to make district level elections officially partisan politics based.

Kwabena Nsenkyire, without mincing words, described such persons within the NDC as hypocrites, and appealed to the electorates to vote YES during the upcoming referendum so that district level elections would be partisan based.
